History
Mason’s Marauders were a small mercenary outfit which operated in the Periphery nearby the Magistracy of Canopus in the 3020s. Their commander, Mason Garrilac, was quietly infamous in the area for his tenure defending the planet Zathras and causing considerable civilian casualties. While in exile, and prison, Mason was recruited for a particular task along with a quartet of unconventional ‘MechWarriors from various paths of life. As infamous as their commander was locally, the unit became relatively well-known for small-scale contracts to the highest bidder and for putting Bellerophon back on the map.
After a significant action in the Zathran Civil War of 302X, alongside numerous allies they had talked into assisting them, they became officially folded into the Zathran Defense Force to protect the new Emperor and attempt to keep the region relatively stable. For a minor Periphery state, this task was at least once likened to daring the tide not to wash away writing in the sand. At least three members are confirmed dead by the Mercenary Review Board, though there have always been four ‘MechWarriors and a handful of support personnel attached to the outfit. While Zathras dropped off most local maps by 3030, the final disposition of the surviving members of Mason’s Marauders remained unknown.
